Global payments FAQs

How long does an international transfer take?

International transfer times depend on the payment route and destination.

  • • SWIFT payments typically settle within one to two business days, depending on the destination bank and any intermediary processing.
  • • Supported local payment methods are often faster and may be completed the same day or within 24 hours, where available and depending on route.
  • • In some cases, transfers may take longer due to compliance reviews, regulatory checks, or bank processing requirements.

Estimated delivery times are shown during payment setup so you know what to expect before sending funds.

What details are required to send an international payment?

To send an international bank transfer, you’ll generally need:

  • • The recipient’s full name (as registered with their bank)
  • • The recipient’s bank name and country
  • • An account number or IBAN (where applicable)
  • • A SWIFT/BIC code for the receiving bank
  • • Additional details such as a routing number or sort code, depending on the country

You can also include a payment reference to help with reconciliation and tracking.

Should I use SWIFT or a local payment method?

The best option depends on your priorities and the destination.

  • • SWIFT is widely supported and suitable for most international payments but may involve longer processing times and intermediary fees.
  • • Local payment methods, where available, are often faster and can be more cost-effective, particularly for same-currency payments.

If both routes are supported, Sokin helps you choose the most appropriate option based on speed, cost, and destination.

What fees apply to international payments?

International payments typically include:

  • • A transaction fee for external transfers
  • • An FX fee when a currency conversion is required

All applicable fees are shown clearly before you confirm a payment, so you have full visibility into costs upfront. You’ll see applicable fees before you confirm a payment, so costs are clear up front.
